Setting up the router

 

Before using remote function of Multicam you need to configure your router. This operation is performed in two steps described below.

 

Step 1: Assign a static IP address to your computer.

Step 2: Configure the router.

Step 1: Assign a static IP address to your computer:

You will find below the procedure for Windows Vista and Windows XP.

If you follow the instructions this step is not complicated.

Assign a static IP address on Windows Vista:

1: Click on Start.

2: Enter ncpa.cpl

3: Press Enter.

1: Right-click on the icon of your active connection.

2: Click onStatute.

On this window, click on Details.

Note the values of three elements bellow:

1: IPv4 IP Adress.

2: IPv4 Default gateway.

3: IPv4 DNS Server. (There may be two values. In this case note the two ones)

Ignore the lines that start with IPv6.

 

With the left example we note:

IP Adress:    192.168.1.2

Gateway:     192.168.1.1

DNS Server:  192.168.1.1

Go back to the first window, then:

 

1: Right-click on the icon of your active connection.

2: Click on Properties.

1: Select line: Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4).

2: Click on Properties.

3: Check the box: Use the following IP address:

 

4: Complete these lines with the values you have noted earlier:

IP Adress:

Enter the value of the IP address you noted.

Subnet mask:

This line is automatically filled when selected.

Default Gateway:

Enter the value that you noted for the default gateway.

 

 

5: Complete these lines as indicated below:

DNS preferred:

Enter the value you noted for the first DNS server.

DNS auxiliary:

If you noted a second DNS server type it here otherwise leave this line empty.

 

6: To complete the first stage, click OK.

    Go to Step 2 at the bottom of the page

 

Assign a static IP address on Windows XP:

 

Démarrer

1: Click on Start.

2: Click on Run

Executer

1: Enter ncpa.cpl

2: Click on OK

2: Click on Details.

5: Complete these lines as indicated below:

6: To complete the first stage, click OK.

Step 2: Set up the router

On this step you will use your web browser to conect to your router.

You will find the NAT configuration (Routing port function)

You will set your router to transfer incoming connections on port 8080 to the computer containing Multicam

 

The appropriate procedure is generally as follows:

On Internet Explorer type the address of your router: http://192.168.1.1 (This address may differ depending of your router)

Enter the username and password if asked. (It is provided by your ISP)

Click on Advanced configuration.

Depending on your router, click on: Virtual server or NAT or NAT configuration rule, or equivalent function.

 

Some router may ask you to choose a preset service or software from a menu: You have to select the function allowing you to use another service or software. Type "Multicam" when asked for a programm name.

The port which must be redirected: Depending on your router it ask for a port or a range of port. If it ask a port: enter 8080 and if it ask a range of port ( beginning port, end port..): enter 8080 in each cases.

A protocol: Select TCP.

An IP address: This is the address of the computer which Multicam is installed on. Type the IP address you noted earlier.
